nothing special, a 6' 6" MH Shimano Convergence rod, with a Cabela's Prodigy LP Casting Reel, spooled with 12lb. flourocarbon.

I have a Diawa Light and tuff that i love, It lets you play a fish but also lets you horse it if you need to as well. I have a Quatum Escalade on it and it is the best Open face rod that I have ever used.

my biggest reason for getting a rod made for senkos is casting.....you can get away with any ole medium action rod....but the softer tips on the falcons made casting a dream

i am with tnfisherman, walmart has surprisingly decent rods for the price....I have had a few now for a few years and they still work great...and my buddy has had more expensive rods from bass pro shops and elsewhere and a few of them have broken...
