Default keeping a fish

im going to keep a tiny to a baby bass, bream, and or crappie in a nice fish tank for my quickly growing daughter.. i see youtube videos of fish in clean water? anyone have any tips for caring for it as far as the water and what not? should i take the fish and water from a creek as opposed to a lake or river?

If you put gravel in the tank bottom along with a decent pump/filter and maybe some plants you'll be fine. It shouldn't matter where you take the fish from, put a little of the water it came from in the tank at first. And gradually change it out till its clear.

I've kept LM and SM bass as well as a few other species as pets. It's alot of fun and bass are hardy so caring for them is not too difficult. As far as introducing the fish into the tank I'd pretty much agree with what flbassman said.

Just one more tip...if you want to have a healthy community of fish do not put a smallmouth in there. They are better kept alone, I learned this the hard way! I assume you'll be keeping a LM so you should probably be ok.

yeah make sure the water temp is near the same (lake and aqaurium) or the fish might get shocked and die..... other than that you should be ok.... feed it minnows.... should be fun..... i like the guy on the internet who fed his bass a mouse (if you watch the video watch how the bass reacts when he sees the mouse) just search bass eats mouse
