I say this because I had always wanted to fish tournaments but never had a big enough boat. I would fish the same lake the same time as a tournament, wieght my fish an watch there wiegh in, I always had enough to win or be in the top five. So I joined a club, when I got a boat big enough I could, first 5 outings 12th, 16th,20th, ect. I fell apart, fishing like I just was on the lake for a day but suddely second guessing everything. I soon realized I had confident spots and so,so spots, I spent those first tournaments going to all my spots through the day. I soon realized if I focus on my confident spots and rotate thru them all day my confidence rose, I knew fish were there. From that point on and my only tournaments to this day (16 total) 1st thru 3rd in 11 straight. I had the knowledge, I had the skill, I just lacked the mental confidence to believe when the pressure was on.

we call it milk running.. ya always hit the spot you have the most cofindence in first.. i have a spot i have caught numberus bass from but you must hit it before 7:30 am or the boat traffic makes it diffacult at best and the fish shut down..
belive me i do alot of milk running..an example would be seen in any of my fish posted here. today i will be fshing highrock lake.. put money on me catching several bass from the same 400 yards of lake as i did last week.. zooker

I call it the meat route, I too hit a dozen or so areas any given day on the lake, certain times like zooker says are better before the boat traffic or sun

Fishing a milk run isn't always possible, especially in a big tournament. Sometimes when you leave a spot to fish your next spot someone is on it, and the next one and the next one and the next one........then when you return to your first, best spot, well, someone's on it too. That's why it's sometimes best to stay in an area that's holding fish and protect it.

Trueth be said my technique for these tournaments ( the 11 run ) works better with boat traffic and heavy, or at least wind.
