Chipboard Crankbaits

i have heard you guys and i have seen crankbaits that the lips are made out of chipboard. What is up with this and why is it good?

Also what other things are the lips made out of to give it a different look or feel?

thinner, stronger, and less resistance so the bait dives deeper - or so I've heard. Haven't really tested the theory.

I have a few spro little johns and they have a chipboard lip and they seem to dive a little faster than what my other plastic lipped cranks do. also they do seems like it causes a little less resistance in the water but hey i may be crazy and just making stuff up because I want to make myself feel better for spending ten bucks on crankbaits.

yeah sometimes we imagine stuff to make the big spend item seem like a better buy... love my lucky crafts tho

The circut board bills are better around rocks because they flex when you hit one and that makes them bounce in an faster more action pact way. Also they do last abit longer.

Circuit board lips. Yeah, they're pretty bullet proof. I bet the folks at Rapala had wished they used these on their DT series. I've broken 3 of 4 lips on the current set-up they have.

Make that 3 of us. I thought for $8 I would have gotten something a little more durable. I didn't even run the bait into anything, just broke from the base of the lip up through the body... I just used some devcon 2 ton epoxy on it and it works like new...

Hello Woody, Those Spro cranks come with some mean gammy hooks too. Which makes sense because Gamakatsu happens to own Spro .

Hello Lowrider, glad to be here. I'm From the littlest state Rhode Island. What's great about freshwater bass fishing here is that because we have saltwater every where and Saltwater Fishing Rules. So I have all these ponds and lakes practically to myself. My Personal best is 9 pounder from a private pond.

You can get the Spro Little John's for about $9 a bait. Some of the more expensive ones out there are Circuit Breakers, Peoples Choice, Sisson's, Stamford's, ect. Just type in Circuit board crankbait into google and see what pops up.

yeah they have some at my local bait shop and i was just wondering what was the big factor for them being so much more exspensive

Hello Younggun, glad to be here. Good vibes with this crew. Anyway, I think the reason for the Little Johns being pricey,has to do with what's inside em. They have tungsten ball bearings that transfer to the rear of the crank during the cast. Once the bait lands, the BBs slide to the middle or front for rattling and balance.

Younggun, do you recall the brands of the other circuit lips. It could be things like holographic finishes or high end 3-D eyes, top line trebles etc.
