take off the skirt, paint the head, or put on a dif colored skirt for the conditions your fishing, also you can add a grub or a split tail, or a trailer hook..
you can also open or close the width of the wires to have a smaller presentation or bulkier also, you can add or eliminate the skirt strands. Or cut some of various lengths..i do that on everyone of mine to some degree ![]() |

I do this all the time, it's like a past time almost.
To start you must know that there's not a whole lot to do. Before you got breaking stuff (kidding 'round) you'll need some stuff.
Get you some blades. To but them on you just bend the weir back where the blades is... use the pliers for this. Once you get your blade on, bend the weir back! When the weir is back, you can add beeds, different colors... multiple in colors fact! You can also modify the swivels, they make rattling ones that are great for murky water! ![]() Skirts..... you can have one spinnerbait and have 15,000 colors!! Just get what colors you want, they're cheep! Don't be shy! ![]() Good luck... kill 'em!

I make my own, and the biggest thing I do is blades. I like to use smaller willowleaf blades and Indiana ather than Colorado blades for a different vibration and flash. I also use more copper blades-you do not see many stock spinnerbaits with copper blades so it gives a different color flash.

Buy the heads that you like, painted or unpainted, then get the blades, swivels, beads, and skirts. I keep extra parts in a small plano box and I can modify the blades and skirts very quickly when I'm on the water. If you have problems with the split rings then get a pair of the pliers designed to open them. They can be a pain.
Bending the wire to attach the swivel is your main concern. You really need a pair of pliers that are designed to bend wire and those cost $$. If you use regular pliers you may end up losing blades and swivels. |
