Default Gander Mountain rules!

So I'm standin there comparin Zoom Finesse Worms with Gander brand.
Along comes Gander dude asking if I need any help.
Nope, I'm good.
He apparently figured I was lyin.
Turns out he fishes in a lot of tourneys around here and was recommending different colors of worms as well as the Shakey Football Head.
When I told him where I was from and that I was puttin a boat in the water for the first time, he clued me in to the smallies on Big Platte and Crystal Lake, where he swears a new world record lives.
Pointed me to a Fenwick Iron Hawk rod. Had a hard time walkin away from it. Pretty sure the bait monkey had a Hula Popper caught in his mouth.

That's cool that he helped with the fishing spots. The Ganders down here are not bad, they just don't have the greatest selection. But I guess in these economic times maybe they can only afford to stock big sellers.
Last weekend in Ohio I tried some of the 1/16 oz. football shaky jigs I made and I liked them pretty well, even caught a bass on one. They do pick up weeds and moss more than the round ones though.

Yeah, you could tell he was one of those guys that lives to share knowledge.
Forgot to mention, he swears by Daiwa Excelers, both spinning and casting

Mallen, are you talking about the Gander in Traverse? I don't know his name but one of the guys that works there is actually a "pro" and does a lot of charter fishing for smallies on the bay as well as some of the other local lakes. It might be a good place to hang around. Also, look to see if they are ever putting on seminars.

GOOD LUCK!!

Yep, the one in Traverse. Great big dude! He DID mention that he's won money in tournaments. Not sure if he's talkin on the pro level or not, but he was insanely knowledgable.
I'll hafta ask him his name next time I'm in there.
lol he also told me it doesn't matter how small my boat is to fish Crystal Lake. He's never seen my boat lmao!
