Default Looking for a new rod?

This is the new design that will sweep rod sales accross the country.

I have not played with one yet but the concept is very interesting.
It is a flipping/spinner bait / and crank bait rod ..
It adjusts up to 6 inches in length from American Rodsmiths.

Interesting aint it..

That is pretty interesting Mike , I am surprised to see they are using carbide inserts for the line guides , I mean they will be very durable but very brittle at the same time , you would not have to worry about scratches or nicks in them but carbide is very prone to cracking because of how hard the metal is . We usually use diamond wheels to cut carbide and diamond paste to polish it , it will be very interesting to see how they hold up .

Price is gonna be just shy of eleventy billion dollars.

Hmmm, mozilla says I misspelled the word eleventy.

I need sleep.

I wonder how that affects sensitivity and weight? Its not like they are the first guys with that idea. Anybody who has ever had a teloscopic rod already was in the ballpark. There has to be a reason why they are the first to actually do that.

Get ready for a setback of 399.00 per rod. But if it replaces four rods it might be worth the investment.

I don't really like it. I know that I use different line and reels for worms than topwater and it is quicker to just reach down and pick up another rod.
Also it looks like only the tip has a carbide insert, the rest are Recoil guides. I have one rod with them and they do make a little noise but I like them.

Looks great! I have two problems with it though! First off, it dose not have a cork handle! I'll take cork of fome any day! Second of all, the price is a lot to much for me!!

But other than that, great idea. The line guides look great! Nothing to fall off of them and fry the line. I'm sure that it will make big sales!

At some point another maker will produce a cheaper rod..better guides too.

How about this new design..

Handle is designed to keep fingers warm and connected..

I like those handles!! Someone needs to make a shrink wrap with that type of grip.

A new gimmick? I don't think I'd go for an adjustable rod, for several reasons.
It's two piece, with about 10 extra inches of blank and will make the rod heavier than a comparable one piece.
A 2 piece rod is arguably less sensitive than a one piece.
The theory of one rod replacing two or more? Means you will be changing baits more often, and have to pick a line suitable to four different lures, presentations, etc.
I would think rod balance may also be an issue - at the shortest length the rod will probably be butt heavy and at full extension at best neutral, but probably tip heavy.
One benifit may be for angler's that travel a lot, in that they could take fewer rods on a plane, then set up the rod based on destination conditions. This rod may work for some, but I don't think it's for me.
