Default Just Horrible Weather up here

So far I've only been able to get out once on the NYC reservors due to the weather.

Up until this year we had to wait until April 1 with no ice on the body of water your launching in. This year the rules have been amended to allow us to fish two reservoirs anytime there is no visible ice.

Got out once in March last week, and so far this week with my work schedule the wind and or rain have made it just impossible to safely be on the water. Remember, that the rules are only 12-16 ft rowboats, no motors, sails, etc, only oars.

I was off from work Friday and today, both days were just way too windy. Today the winds are 12-29 mph. Now I have to wait until next Saturday to hopefully get out again.

Sorry, but I just had to vent some.

I feel your pain. The weather has been decent lately around here, low 40's yesterday but a lot of the lakes are still iced over.
Tried getting back to a spot on the Betsie River today but only made it 1/2 mile in before I decided not to press on the rest of the 2 1/2 miles due to snow on the two track.
Went to Little Platte Lake yesterday. Wasn't iced over anymore so I threw on some hip boots, waded out and threw everything but the kitchen sink. Not a bass to be seen. Was hoping to get lucky since the deepest part of that lake is 8'. no such luck.
It was nice to get out and throw some junk though.

Default Joel,

Call us crazy (it's not uncommon) but Dominic (Unionbass) and I went out on Kensico on Saturday with wind gusts to 37mph. We saw whitecaps down by the Rye Bridge.

Well we wrote it off as exercise but couldn't find a fish. One of the main problems was that we couldn't hold a spot to work some laydowns and dropoffs we knew had fish from experience. We had 2 anchors but the wind moved my big heavy v-hull.

Still we had a great time trying and planning our next trip on a clear windless day.

Best Always,
Vinny

COLD and raining here. I fully appreciate your situation. Havn't had my boat out yet and it's killin me. Why are all the decent days durring the work week. Seems every weekend is cold, rain/snow mix. Yesterday wasn't bad but I had no time to get out. They are calling for snow tonight and all day tomorrow. UGH!!!
