Angry Huminbird Rant!!!

Don't buy Huminbird products!!!! I just got off the phone with the biggest idiots. Maybe it's me. I don't know. I am tired of these companies thinking were just a bottomless pit for money. I baught a Portable 210 for the yak 3 months ago. Today i found a quick relesse mount for the fish finder that will allow you to mount it without it slipping around. The piece is molded plastic. It literally looks like it cost 40 cents to make. This price for this little piece of of plastic about the size of a half dollar & 2 little 5 cent screw was 10.99. I bit lip & started to order it. Min shipping was 10.00. So now i looking at 60 cents worth of product & they want 20.99 total. Could these high prices get any worse. I know but look what you spent on the rago. Is it the same. No i don't think so. One product is a piece of Art made in a basement that is handmade. The other is made in a sweatshop in Japan. I have never had a problem spending money. As long as i felt i get my money worth. here take alook!!! http://store.humminbird.com/accessor...d740072-1.html

Pure genius right there.
I see I can order a clamp to install my transducer on the bottom of my trolling motor. That's what they make hose clamps for

i have a humminbird side imaging unit and don't see me going back to lowrance anytime soon. i like my x135 on the bow of my boat but nothing will compare to the side imaging unit, although the x135 and side imaging units are in a very different price range and i am not suggesting that the x135 should compare. if i ever get my wife beat into submission on the subject then i will add one of the bigger side imaging units to the console and move my 797 up front.

as far as humminbirds customer service is concerned. the transducer went out on my 797 probably 6 months after i bought it, it would only scan to one side of the boat. i called and got a lady on the phone who really knew her stuff pretty well. she told me she was 90% sure it was the transducer but wanted to get off the phone to ask everyone else's opinion as well and she would call me back. 5 minutes later she called me back and confirmed it was probably the transducer. i told her that i had a tourney coming up at the end of the week and i was needing to pre-fish all week so i was wanting the transducer asap. the next day i had a new transducer in hand and at no charge, they never asked for a reciept or anything. i was really impressed with their customer service.

C Rig I had similar dealings with them. My mounting bracket broke not long after I got my 797. I called and they sent me another no questions asked. I actually mounted mine where I could see it while driving my boat or from the front. When you guys go to KY lake later on go to KY dam Marina and scan go to the back side of the Marina next to the ramp. There is a boat sunk there and that was the first thing I saw with mine. From that point on I was blown away with the side scan. It has never caught me a fish per say but it has shown me what the bottom looks like without any doubt. I want one of the bigger ones too.

after looking at that plastic piece moose, I am pretty sure you could take a dremel tool and take a plastic top off a big pill bottle and make the cuts and grooves to fit your unit....worth a try and cheap.

I think your right. I just can't believe a company like them would sell this device at that price. They should be ashamed of there selves. After this unit i will no longer be buying there crap again. As little as it is. It seams they could of just put in with the fishfinder.

if you think lowrance's customer service is any better you should read some of the post on here about them. linda colt lives about an hour away from here in tulsa and she is awesome, but other than her you are screwed if you have to deal with lowrance about anything. i personally give humminbirds customer service a 10 out of 10 in my dealings with them. lowrance............maybe a 4 out of 10.

I think you're correct in that the cost of the plastic is probably only pennies, you're paying for the technology R and D that went into the design. And.. most customer service places charge triple or more to replace a part than the actual cost if bought with the unit.

Now I know why they call that product line "Piranha." Death of your wallet, one little nip at a time.

Cool

Well i baught this thing when i was fishing out of the canoe. But 3 months later i'm now using a Yak. Well i put it the fishfinder on Craigslist. I had a Call the this after noon. I'm meeting him tomarrow morning. There's nothing wrong with it. It's a good unit. But i'm going for regular finder on the yak. Won't be a humminbird i know that. Any suggestions other than a Humminbird.

Lowrance was the worst I've dealt with.
