i go to a small pond fishing and i've tried all kinds of lures and i don't get any bites, but when i use a nightcrawler i get at least a small bass every time.is this unusual or is it just because it's a small pond.

try to slow it down and use something a little more realistic looking, try a 5-7inch rubber worm in a natural color like brown or green. you'll find the fish.

hey im13 and i have a small pond in which icant get a bite with spinner or crankbaits, but the most effective use is just any type of worm and i let it sink to the bottom and pop it up every 3 sec. we can have a bad day at the lake then we can go too the pond and catch fish and big ones too. my sis caught a 3 pound a monyh ago for her 1st fish and the biggest was a 7 pound out of that pond

That sounds like a pretty big smallmouth!
Don't underestimate small ponds, but the size of bass depends on the food to bass ratio. The more food available and the fewer bass, the bigger they will be. What have you observed as natural food? Worms, lizards, shad/minnows? See any bass jumping for dragonflies? If you can somehow find out what they are going for, you can get a good idea on what to try. |
