Default Relying on your confidence baits

Well the few times i went out got me to thinking . 1 It seemed after being locked up all winter I had lost my patience to fish a area extensively and I caught myself more than once falling into the funk of only throwing my favorite bait , not because it was producing but because it held my confidence . After noticing this happening and really looking at the water i was fishing and tying on the proper bait I started to catch fish again more because I stepped outside of my normalcy and thought about the situation .
If ya find yourself in that kind of funk just step back and rethink what you are throwing it could make all the difference in the world .

And don't forget the sunscreen .

Your right on the mark with that Jim. And the cool part about what you did is that you start to gain more confidence in your abilities as a fisherman than your lures.

It's tough to leave the tackle/rods at home and only take the baits you need to work on or have no confidence in.

But if you do sometimes you'll be surprised at what you learn.

New to site fellows. Have been chasing bass for 47 years, and you're right on. Ya gotta fish the current conditions and not good memories.

What Jim said is very true, i did that myself tonight and picked up a dozen at the local reservoir... they were holding right on a deep weed edge. Also this year I have far fewer bass than I did last year at this time, but that is ok because i have learned to fish jigs and the dropshot. This year is more about learning new techniques that I have not mastered yet...
