I like Frog Toggs but they have no pockets. So I also have some duck hunting rain gear from Herters but they are starting to leak in heavy rain.
So I have the 100 MPH gear from BPS too but they are the worst for fit... And the hood is annoying. If a cold front includes rain I am shivering by the end of the day. I once had goretex Browning rain gear that was the best ever.. lost or borrowed or something.. I also have the latex Grundens but after a couple of trips they stink so bad and washing them ain't an option as they separate. For Boots you can not beat T.I.T.S. Any other suggestions? Capt Mike

I like frog Toggs, the no pockets is annoying, but the low price is worth it.

I like my Toggs and it has pockets to get to your pants pockets. My next set will be bibs for the bottoms because like my socks, I hate pulling them up after they are on.

I prefer 55 gal Hefty trash bags. Tear three holes in them...Voila! Instant raincoat. Cheap and disposable too.

I've tried just about everything. There are two that are TOP NOTCH and both are equally good and refined. I switch back and forth between Cabela's Guidewear and Columbia's American Angler Jacket/Bibs. I have Toggs (actually it's made by 3M but same thing) and they're good in a pinch or if you're traveling light. I take Toggs with me on trips when I want something that I don't care about getting ripped or ruined. If I'm out on my boat or someone else's, Columbia's American Angler or Guidewear gets the nod. Oh, and both have great pockets.
Capt... what kind of boots are they? |

I've got some insulated bibs and jacket from Gander MTn, but it doesn't work too great in the summer. unless the rains comming down real hard, I just unzip the inner liner from the jacket and wear the outside wind breaker part and forget the bibs. Int he summer, I've fishing in shorts anyways.

Cabela's Guidewear is the best. I have a couple different weight jacket/parka/pants for different temperatures. Guidewear is of excellent quality. You also need to decide what you will need in raingear. Do you fish tournaments or recreational only? If you fish tournaments you'll want good raingear - If you get wet you either leave early or have a MISERABLE day. If you are a non-boater you will have a miserable day if you get wet. I personally would not waste my money on Frog Toggs - I have several friends (trying to save a few bucks) that bought them and they didn't last but a couple seasons. All had problems with seams leaking, and overall quality isn't that great. All eventually bought Gore Tex rainwear. So save if you must and buy some good Gore Tex (or similiar, Cabela's brand is Dry Gear I believe) raingear - it will last a long time, being more cost effective over time, and you will stay DRY in the worst weather.

I don't fish in the rain. If it starts to rain, I'm heading to the car. I know I am probably missing out on some good fishing but I just don't like to get wet.

Columbia Omni-Tech is sweet when just off the shelf. Got a problem with the hood while running. My stuff is getting old so it does leak a little but after 7-8 years that's not too bad.
