![]() ![]() Haven't had the chance to look at one close up. My dad and I are gonna take the '69 over to the local chevy dealer and check them out. From what I've seen, they rival the new challenger. BB

Um...Bama....I don't know how to tell you this...but I think Pontiac is gone forever. I could be wrong, but I think GM shut Pontiac down.

Does it turn in to a robot like the movie? That is pretty sweet looking ride though. And I from what the news said, the day of the Pontiac is gone. I loved those Grand Prix superchargers.

Back on subject here....Bama, quit cryin' so's I can talk!!!!
![]() I love the new Camaro. First time I saw the picture of one, I loved it. Same thing with the new Challenger, too. Old school design meets new school design, and they pulled it off great. I wasn't too keen on the Charger, much to my disappointment...I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't. Now, back to Pontiac for a minute...it's history, it will shortly no longer exist. They're been losing money hand over fist for too long, apparently, so GM cut off that dead arm. Ok, John, you can go back to crying again...

Yeah sorry bama, but no more pontiac.
Anyways, I was surpsied that the new Camaro starts at 23,000. I was expecting cloer to mid 30's. I bet they're trying to compete on the Mustang's price level. One thing I was dissappointed in was it only get 16-17MPG in the city, and 24-29 highway depending on the motor. Kinda off topic from the camaro, but the new corvette ZR1 is pretty nice. Starts at 105,000. 640hp 6.2L engine. 14mpg (I'd say not too bad for almost 640hp) BB

I've got the literature on both the Camaro and the Challenger. The 6 cyl Camaro is sweeter than the Challenger. There isn't anything to match up to the R/T and the M package is sweeeeeeet. The SRT and the SS are close with Camaro with the slight edge in HP. I haven't driven the Camaro or SRT yet just the R/T.

I would be shocked if Caddy fails to survive, in some form.
You have to look at these names as brands. It doesnt matter what happens RE the insolvency of GM, Ford and Chrysler. The mere name "Cadillac" is worth billions in recognition and marketing. "Pontiac" is also a good brand name. Somewhere down the line, whatever American - or even foreign - car companies that emerge from this will buy the rights to the brands and the cars will drive again. Want an example of this? The current Buggatti car company is not the same company of the 30s and 40s. They just bought the name to capitalize on that.

Right now they're thinking of making jeep and dodge ram their own companies. Maybe they will do the same with cadillac.
