Fishing for northern pike from my dock last Friday night (bass season didn't open until Saturday) and I landed a 3lb. 3oz. smallie using a Mepps Syclops spoon (rainbow trout colored).
My nephews (16 & 14 yr olds) and I went out on Memorial Day morning in breezy, overcast conditions with light rain and temps in the low 50s. We found some small bays mostly out of the wind and really got into a good topwater bite on phat rats (only white or yellow seemed to work). We ended up getting 6 into the boat, but we probably had twice that many that we missed or that got off before getting them all the way in. The biggest was this one at 2lb 6oz. We had a blast. |
