I am having trouble pitching with my baitcaster (lots of Backlashes) Is this a technique I should generally use with just a spinning rod? Or do I need to losen my brakes? When I pitch out the line jerks back because the breaks kick in. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!!

Nick - when you make the quietest entry possible then you know you're doing it right, there isn't one right way to do either.
Will - start with 1/2 oz weight or heavier first and then go lighter with the weight as you get better. set your breaks so that the lure falls slowly to the floor and when it hits it doesn't backlash. |

i agree with what sbk said. i have 3 trees that i practice pitching under in my yard, and 2 dog food bowls that i cast at.
i also practice pitching under my truck to simulate a pier. needless to say i have a lot of dents in my truck.lol
