Hey!
So as you all probably know, I'm making some hard baits, and I'm running out of ideas, my brother told me to make a snake. a lure that's 10" with 10 joints. I think I'll try that on for size! Than my dad got this great idea to look at antique lures! Though I'd give the bass something that they've not seen in for ever! So far I've got the creek chub wiggle fish, heddon crazy crawler, the Johnny rattler, and the heddon lucky, on the list as well! I'd like to get you guyses opinions on this one! Some of you old timers on here probably have some old faves you caught a lot bass on, but are made no longer, if you do, lemme know! Or just not widely use still made, old classics (like the Crazy Crawler, and the lucky). With anything that has a lip blade, buzzer and the like, I'm gonna be using old spoons (like what you eat with), and the bottoms of soda bottles, (cutting them with sheers) to make them... I'll also need a new drill bit for for putting holes in the mettle! If you can think of anything else to put holes in mettle, please let me know! ![]() Thanks guys!! ![]()

Well, besides the Pregnant Guppie I went on and on about a while back, there was also the L & S Bass Master Jointed Minnow I used to catch em on. There are a ton of those on ebay though. I just bought one in really good condition for a 30 year old lure, but I still haven't found one in frog spot paint and good condition like the one I used to have.

BB, your "bull frog" paint job is almost spot on for the "frog spot" of the L & S lure. Look one up and you'll be surprised.

Depending on how far back you want to go for your ideas, get yourself a deck of the "Lures of the Past Playing Cards". That will give you 54 different old lures to look at.
![]() Product Description - Jon Q. Wright has brought out the fishing lures colorful history by designing 54 different playing cards. Each one shows a different notable antique lure from the 1890s to around 1940. |

The Heddon Lucky 13. But I think they still make it, along with the crazy crawler.

You might do a search for antique fishing lures on ebay and see what shows up in photos.

Johhny Rattlers are not antique lures but came out in the early 1980s.

My Dad always mentioned the Paw Paw aristocrat shiner because thats what he primarliy fished growing up.
![]() Myself, I have always preferred the action of a Devils Horse. I think bass as they have become more pressured are less likely to go after such a big propbait. I also like AC Shiner 375 jerkbaits. ![]() I still enjoy big dry flies for river bass, even though its a little more trouble. I landed a few nice fish on Creek Chub Pikies last year and just havent had the situation to break them out since...but they are a good lure. ![]()
