My 6 yr. old daughter and I went out on Thursday and she stumbled across a nice 14 1/4" LM using live crawlers. Last year I was stubborn and insisted she use "daddy type" lures and put senkos, and other soft artificials on her pole. She did catch a fish every now and then, but not NEARLY enough to hold the interest of an energetic 6 yr. old. I gave in to the idea of using live bait with her, and I am so glad that I did!!! She is having so much fun now catching fish every time out and she still has her finicky moments and wandering concentration, but she is getting enough action to make it a fun day out with Dad.

great smile on her face, I think live bait is the way to go to keep a youngsters interest, more action. Plus I think we all started out using live bait way back when, any variety of fish will latch onto a easy meal, good story
