rivet tool is NOT expensive. i am NOT a pro and truly do NOT think my brain fart of an idea will work. but it depends on how big the "hole" is. you take the sealer and put a bead around the edges of the hole, rivet the patch to it. see if it will work. just don't go out in the middle of the lake to do it,lol.

Like Bama said, the size of the hole is important. Look up JB Weld products. I remember my step dad 30 years ago making some modifications to his jon boat with their stuff. It isn't actually welding, but it like a metal-based epoxy kind of stuff.

A pic would be great if possible. There are several products out there that can be useful for patching holes on aluminum boats without getting into welding aluminum. Of course if this looks like the boat has been shot by a cannonball, that might not be as fixable without taking it to a welder.

the hole is pretty big about 2' by 1.5'. I checked out the jb weld products. If i was putting a sheet of aluminum over the hole how would you recommend applying it with the epoxy??

You're talking about a 24" x 18" hole? Man...I know next to nothing about JB Weld stuff, but I'd have to have something that big fixed properly. Otherwise, I hope you're a really good swimmer.

lol,FnG
Jb weld is a great product no doubt...i use it here and there..but for that LARGE of an application,...your going be patching it again and again im sure....Ive heard of people having issues with jb weld and aluminum boats....probably be great for a small quick fix,but not for that size. call a local welder....bet you can get a patch for 50-100 bucks..depending. it'd be worth it in the long run good luck

ok then i am thinking that you would have to have it welded my friend, hahaha. that was a pretty big cannon ball, lol. BUT............the jb weld and rivets MIGHT work, MIGHT mind you. not gonna swear by it.
