Default Learning how to dropshot...

I finally got a chance to do some serious dropshotting last weekend at the lake I do almost all my fishing on. This year is the first year I have ever tried it, and prior to last weekend, I had only really dabbled with it sporadically. I caught quite a few bass in two days, including one smallie, and a few pesky pike who apparently wanted me to have to re-tie a few times.

I tied my PB largemouth on this lake with this 4lb 7oz, 19" beauty on Sunday morning.

The smallie I caught went 2lb 11oz, 16", but I was alone in the boat at the time, and since we're in catch-and-release only season for SM here in MN, I couldn't put it in the livewell to take back for a "real" picture at the dock before releasing it.

I was using a Cabela's AquaGlow 4 3/4" Junebug Creature bait and went through an entire 8-pack of them due to the aforementioned pike ripping them apart.

Other good non-dropshot fish from the weekend were a 4lb 14oz pike (7" wacky worm) and a 3lb 2oz LM (black poppin' frog).

Can't wait to go back and try it again the first weekend in October...

Dang, good fish there!

It 's funny that one day later you catch your PB on that same rig!

Watterboy...sorry to hear those nasty pike are tearing up your creature baits.

My mama said pike are so ornery because they got all them teeth and no toohbrush. (Sorry...just had to be done )
