One of the best ways to fish a trick worm or a senko-type bait.

it has its place like everything else, only real bad thing about it is its not weedless....but you can get hooks with weedgaurds, so i guess it is ok...i havnt had the most luck with them, but i have caught some.

I like the ole' Wacky Worm and use it often. I have lost a few in the weeds. I read about it on here and the first time I tried, caught a 5 pounder. I thought that was really kind of cool for a beginner or just luck.

reb should have a pic for ya, but pretty much it is used for tiki style baits, just hook them righht thru the middle so each side hangs down formin a ''u'' upside down. which reminds me, there are wacky worms that have like a t shape so you can t-rig them...im not sure where to get a photo of these?

Just grab the worm and bend it in half. Put the hook through the middle and toss in the lake. Let it float to the bottom, jerk a little on it, reel in a little and do it all over again. Rather easy, that's why I use it.

REB & ALL,
In your instructions, you forgot to mention that one end of a wacky rig needs a weight. You can use a finishing nail cut in half, or you can use a piece of coat hanger wire about 1 inch long shoved completely inside one end of the worm lengthways. I found a way to rig a wacky worm weedless; take the mosquito hook and run it completely thru the worm with just the eye of the hook above the worm. Now pinch the worm up a little and hook the barb of the hook into the worm Texas style. I use either Watermelon/red flake, watermelon seed, watermelon candy or watermelon colors and dip about 1 inch of the unweighted end of the worm into chartruese "Spike-It" worm dye (Garlic scented) When you see the line move or feel a strike, do not set the hook. Only start reeling and the Mosquito hook will set itself. The only addendum to this statement is that if the fish is coming towards you, then you will have to set the hook in a normal fashion, but any other time, just start reeling. JackL |
