Now I'm sure we've all seen or heard of the US reel Supercaster. But has anyone seen this about them yet?
Looks really cool to me, and seems pretty legit. What do you guys think?

It seems like a good idea, but I have never personally thrown one or talked to someone that has, so who knows. Might be a great real, or just a marketing scheme. I wonder how it hold up for 2 or 3 years.

Very interesting, the Reel retails for $250. If it is a otherwise sound, well made reel it might really be a breakthrough in fishing technology, but I kind of doubt it. Jimmy Houston is now using these reels and Guido and Dion Hibdon have their own signature reel.

It would be something to look at. All of those new features sound nice. Would have been nice if the video showed a demonstration in an actual fishing situation.

Interesting Idea, but it's ugly as hell, and looks horrible uncomfortable to palm...

Seems like a good idea, but the reel just looks super cheesy to me for some reason.

Why don't they show it in action? I bet a simple backlash would be ten times worse with this rig...the line is no longer secured behind an eyelit so if you have a backlash it can easily wind itslef around that so called "levelwind" mechanism. I ain't buyin' it..I guess I would definitely want to try this first

Okay, I had to go to BPS to pick up something today and I checked out the Supercaster 1000, they didn't have the pro. It seemed like a pretty well put together reel. It had a smooth retrieve and felt solid. The shape of it was kind of awkward, hard to tell if it would palm well because of the security lock. The guy behind the counter told me that they have sold quite a few of them and that they really do cast farther than most reels. He also said that they are pretty hard to backlash. The way the levelwind moved up and down was pretty cool. I think the price on the one I looked at was $159.

As a side note, US Reels are made in China.

Yeah thats an interesting idea. Seems legit to me to. I would have to try 1 before buying. If I'm not mistaken I read some negative comments about these awhile ago, but can't remember what they were. More good than bad though.

I own one that I found on e-bay for 115.00. I really like it and it does work just like the video shows. I haven't had any backlash problems so far and it casts pretty nice. Think about it, the line just comes out without having to zig-zag through the eyelet so you do get farther casts. Just my .02. I haven't been able to find another one for that price, not even the lower end model.

Just another thought. What about the reels with a levelwind guide that moves back and for on the retrieve and the cast?

Still more friction I think, the guide going back on the level wind can be to good. And that still does not solve the "Hiccup" problem.
