Just curious...which great baits do you use and like, that are no longer made?
Two come to mind for me - Bagley's Fat Cat and the ORIGINAL Wiggle Wart. I am lucky that I stocked up on these two baits back when I still could. I am down to 2 of the original Wiggle Warts, but I have about 80 Fat Cat's. Both companies came out with the "return" baits, but just aren't/weren't the same. Although, the new Warts are not terrible. |

I can't think of the name of it right now, but I like to fish with a bait that looks like a hard slug-o. It is on the tip of my tongue, but it won't roll off. It was double jointed and triangular in build and chrome with a black back. Somebody help me out if you remember.

Can't find any of the 6" man's jelly worms. The eight inch ones are abundant though. Reb has it correct it is the Zara Gossa. As for myself I have vintage baits but never fish with them. Don't have the ones that I did fish because they either got all busted up or lost or stolen. Quite honestly I'm really not sure what's considered a vintage bait. I do have a bunch of old wiggle warts from twenty years ago, primarily just fish those in the spring. I've tried in summer and fall but they don't produce for me like other cranks do at those times. How about the Strike King Jelutong Glitter finish cranks, are those vintage? I still will use those once in a while. All my Big "O's" and Bagley's from the 70's and 80's are long gone.

I don't think the devil horse was stopped from being made... I just bought one shortly after Christmas 09 from BPS

The Devil's Horse is still being produced, and hasn't changed.

The Devil's horse is still made, but it has changed. I believe the new ones are narrower than the originals. Most who are big fans of them say the old, fatter ones are better.

I'd say the Devil's Horse qualifies as a vintage bait, just for sheer longevity. Besides...it looks like a floating turd. Give it some respect.

Heh my brother in law (who fishes local tourneys) swears by the Devils Horse and the similarly setup BangOLure on the local deep south rivers... he has been looking for a vintage BangOLure that has the 3 hooks, front and back props but apparently they stopped making them so they are very difficult to find... (if anyone has a lead on any please let me know)

I have a lure shaped like an ''s" that I never thrown. I won the most original bait at our bass club.
Note; I've not fished this bait, If that counts.

I suppose that could be correct. All of mine are from the early 90's. They have caught some fish, but I find myself grabbing something else in those situations.

I don't use any baits that aren't made anymore....the closest lure I use would be producto lures tournament paddle tail worms. They used to be sold in all your local bait shops and bass pro but now the only way to get them is order them from the company online....best textured soft plastic 8" paddle tail worm.... Only one I will use and you can get them in bags of 100 which is nice.

Got an old devils horse myself, and a newer one as well. The older one doesn't "seem" fatter though, i'll have to look at it again. Ido know that the older hoss is made outta wood, newer one isn't.

I have a big O and a few devils horse lures that belonged to my dad. They are from back in the 1970's.

They make 2 different sizes in the bigger one Bama. One is skinny with pointed props, and the other is fatter and weighs a little more with rounded props. I have one still in the pack from my Granpa when they were orginally in Arkansas. All he fished with was a Devil's Horse and a Nippadee.
