Where is the grinding coming from? Have you taken the prop off to see if there is any line or grass wrapped around the prop shaft?

I had line wrapped around mine last year and I didn't hear it until it was too late, it burned up my brushes. I replaced the brushes and holder and got it running but it is noisy. I'm going to rebuild it before ice out with a kit from here: http://www.northlandmarine.com/MinnKotaQuickRef.htm
They have pretty good prices on the kits. They come apart really easily and I adjusted the brushes on mine on the water once even. I'd suggest a whole kit though with the bearing and seals. One other thing I learned is that if the motor is turning backwards after you put it back together just pull the 2 bolts and turn it 180 degrees. I don't know about MG, but they are probably about the same. |
