Also, if one has better writing overall than the other, I'd like to know that too. I subscribe to BASS but was thinking of adding one of these. I'd like to find some good outdoors writing to go with specific information on bass fishing. Thanks for any insights!

I also like Bassin' Magazine. I've purchased the FLW one occasionally, but I don't subscribe to any of them.

The only one I read is Bass Master. Field & Stream and Outdoor Life are too generalized for what I want.

I get Bassin' Magazine too, it's pretty good. Out of the 2 you mentioned I get Field and Stream. I really like it but it is definitely seasonal. Bass fishing and fishing in general are going to be pretty hot topics through the summer, when fall rolls around hunting will be on top. All in all though it is a good magazine with well written articles. If you are a outdoorsman with interests that range past just bass fishing I would recommend F&S.

Bassin', FLW and Bassmaster. I don't fish for anything other than bass so am not interested in articles that tell me how to catch other species.

I don't really care much for either as I only bass fish. I like bassmaster, bassin and flw.

I've read both quite a bit growing up, but like the rest of the guys, I'm pretty much a Bass Angler. Half of the magazines that you are inquiring about are dedicated to hunting. Field and Stream in particular seem to promote hunting a lot more than fishing in general and when they do cover fishing it is really pretty generic info you get. As for enterainment reading on the outdoors, I liked outdoor life better, but haven't read either much in the last twenty some odd years. You might give Fishing Facts or In Fisherman, (if either is still published) for generall fishing information, or if you strictly want decent Bass fishing infor, they've already named the main ones, Bassin', FLW Outdoors. You won't get much if any speacific Bass Fising info from field-n-stream, half the fising stuff they offer is dedicated to fly fishing as well. It does kind of come across as being pretty snobby to me. But that's just my experience of it.

Field & Stream & Outdoor Life are very general. They try to cover all types hunting and fishing and logically do not do an in-depth job of covering any of them. Fishing specific magazines would be a better choice. I did subscribe to bassin' at one time but they pester you to death from day one by mail & phone about renewing your subscription. I have read FLW and Peterson's fishing but never subscribed.

I suggest In-fisherman, Bassmaster and Bassin', and I personally get the last 2 although Bassin has been getting a bit smaller lately.

Bassmaster and Bassin are my pics of mags to read. Outdoor Life and Field & Stream havve an occationally good article in them, but they are broad spectrum reads. I don't hunt anymore, and I don't fish for mountain trout with fly fishing tackle. I don't camp neither. I recently was paging through the recent Field & stream that was advertised as the Special Bass issue. It contained only a few pages of bass fishing info.

Mainly Bassmaster for me. It's definitely the best when it comes to in depth bass tips/techniques.

Get BassMaster ANd Bassin' I once had a subscription to both, both are really good! I think I like bass master better, only cause it has day on the lake and more info on the pros, and what new is happening on the Elite Sires.

i currently subscribe to F&S and BASS and i am tired of the liberal propaganda that F&S is filling their magazine with. I'd go with BASS.

anyone know of a fishing mag that cover the northeast. all bassmasters ever covers is everywhere but here. We have the NJ Angler but they really only focus on saltwater fishing.

I run into the same problem, all the local stuff talks about saltwater... and the southern AL stuff is too far north and doesn't talk about the local lakes...
