Default Omg no bass pro... Or fishing

Yes Bass pro shops in Nashville is flooded... along with the whole Opry Mills area.

The flooding here in Tennessee has flooded everything that is remotely close to the Cumberland River and most tributaries. The flooding is so severe that I'm quite sure that fishing... won't be able to happen for a few weeks at least.

Anyone ever seen a tractor floating down the river followed closely by a house?

We can fish in Wal-Mart's parking lot if we wanted to... or around the many houses that now reside in the water.

It's going to take Nashville and Nashville businesses months to recover from this flood. A flood is one of the worst disasters to clean up and re-build from.

Don't I know it... I've been cleaning up my Uncle's house after the Harpeth River water logged it, and WOW, backed up septic tank goo doesn't wash out of carpet too well... More than likely the house will be condemed but we are cleaning anyways. He wasn't in a flood zone so his insurance company wouldn't let him get flood insurance. So the family is going to all have to pitch in on this one.

That sucks, TN! Hard for me to even think of all the problems a flood can cause. Just too many.
Guess I should consider myself lucky. The worst mother nature throws at us is a blizzard.

Makes me a little leery about moving, the house we found is great but it's 1/2 mile from the river. It's not in a flood plain but who knows with the crazy weather that Al Gore caused.
Anyway, when it starts flooding like that how quickly does the water rise? Do you have time to get the stuff out of your house? I know a lot of people probably try to wait it out thinking that it won't get all the way up to their house and then it does. I just want to know in case I have to make an evacuation plan.

I'm bettin 2nd floor, and above, apartments are in demand that close to the river.
I'm guessing they make waterproof safes? Probably be a good idea in flood areas
I'm not subject to floods but a fire would destroy a lot of important stuff for sure

Ya know, the flooding down there is really bad and so many people are loosing everything. People are suffering terribly just as in Katrina. And Obama hasn't done anything about it. Where are the FEMA trailers and the massive federal efforts to help those who are being devistated by this flooding. You don't see anything about that in the news. Funny isn't it that with Obama in office the press is ignoring this fact, but if Bush was still in office, all you'd hear on tv and in the press would be condemnation about a lack of response by Bush.

That is kind of odd. But then it's not a man made dissaster caused by those evil oil companies. Of course bambam and his pose didn't appear to be in a hurry to get down there either.

I hear you on that... FEMA just now started making their rounds today, bringing supplies to those hardest hit and doing damage assesments. It makes me angry just thinking that CNN reports on Coolers full of bottled water, left at a Time's Square hotel instead of on the tens of thousands without homes now. But anyways Nashville and the surrounding areas aren't waiting idlely by waiting for relief, we are taking the bull by the horns and getting done what needs to be done.

Well when it depends at what stage of the flood you'll be close to... if you live close to a fast flowing creek then the water can rise 10 foot in just one hour. If you live on the main river or lake or whatever the water usually takes around a day to rise above flood stage. The exception being this flood in which it took around 4-5 hours for the cumberland to rise 17 foot.
