I use both Flukes and Assassins and consider them to be equal in effectiveness.

Castaic Jerky J series has been my goto soft jerk bait. Prior to that it was always fluke.

My favorite is the Strike King Caffeine Shad... it by far has the best action in the water IMO. It also weighs more than a regular super fluke.

I've got several different style flukes but i've yet to catch anything on them.....But, having said that, I will point out that i'm real new to that type bait and really haven't spent alot of time using it....Truth is i'm not sure when to use it over any other type plastic...Any suggestions?

Bass Assassin is my #1 choice and Slug-Gos & Zoom close behind due to availability. KF, I consider this my go to bait. While I am not a pro, I have a knack for always getting a bite on them. Try using a straight shank or Gammy skip jack 3/0 hook on a smooth day. I like to throw them and find what the fish want. I will reel and twitch them fast. If they are hooked right, they should jump out of the water like a running shad. Sometimes I will slow it down, and you should see the head come up and break the surface and then glide back down. I have always fished them weightless. I have never had much luck weighting them. Just my .02 for you KF, and watch for the swirls with slack line.

I am with KF, have some, never caught anything. I have some Assassins, and another I can't remember the name of. The assassins have tapered tails that end in a point, and the others have the little tab at the end. I have tried swimming them like a topwater jerkbait, and bouncing them off the bottom on a T-rig. No luck either way.

mostly zoom flukes , but I also like the terminator snap back series , they are super stretchy and float a little under the surface for when you almost want to use it like a top water .

Zoom Super Fluke. Smokin' shad, baby bass and watermelon pro blue are my most productive with watermelon and watermelon red running a close second.

I cut off the tails of some flukes and welded on the hooktails from the zoom ultravibe products and in doing so added a topwater buzzer and an underwater throbber.....some of the friends have done well with that modification. Also bought some saltwater Bass Assassins with nobtails that look very promising...am trying them out shortly.

As for regular flukes, slug-go, and assassins, I'd really appreciate your comments about presentations which can be successful. Thanks, Mac

I only will use one....Slug Go. Haven't found another soft plastic jerk bait that has the action of the Slug Go.

Prolly the old school slugo-s. Never caught anything bass on any jerkbaits other than those. Caught a 6lber on one last year too.

Slug-Go for me as well... I like the 4.5" size for a farm pond or strip pit. I've had great luck weighting them with Lunker City's nail weights but you MUST thread the weight in through the top of the bait between where the shank of the hook comes out the bottom and where the point comes back through the body. THEN rig the hook in the bait... If you try to push the weight in after the bait is on the hook, the nail weight will cause the bait to be crooked and it'll spin in circles or just veer to one side on each jerk..! Weighted Soft Jerks drive em wild when they glide towards the bottom! As mentioned above, you must be a line watcher and don't forget to reel in most of the slack and then WHACK EM!

kickerfish shad stick..think a fluke mating with a senko.. heavy, soft, and with no weight one of the best dead stick baits i have ever used..

SK caffeine shad is my choice. They have the coffee scent which I really like and you can cast them a country mile. My only gripe is they aren't the most durable out there. Other than that, they flat out catch fish.

never fished a soft jerk bait... can this be done on a baitcaster??? seems an unweighted zoom super fluke would not cast on a baitcaster and dont own a freakin spinner...

On a baitcaster is the only way I fish them. Super Flukes cast about as well as 5" Senkos, which is considerable. They are fairly heavy and very aerodynamic. Give it a shot, I think you will be surprised.
