A few fisherman fished just outside the 4th island of CBBT and snapped this pic. I know what it is but do you?

Gosh, Cap'n...I don't see any particular clues in the photo that would tell me exactly what kind of fish it is, though I would suspect a big school of Reds, or jacks.

Yes a huge school of red drum.. they mass up like this each summer. Some suspect they are about to spawn. When they are all massed they will not bite.

Two days later they are gone.. just nowhere to be found.

Tracking radio's show they head south and offshore a bit and few of the big 30lbers are caught till they run the surf down in NC.

By mid August small ones are in every creek in the southern bay..

Hotdang Capt. thats what I am talking about. I am heading down there next weekend to see how many spades are still hanging out around the Islands. Two weeks ago at the Chesapeak light some friends of mine boated a 40 and 60 pound Drum. I was down on whays creek at Reedville last weekend and run down to the mouth of the Rap. Its was like the Dead Sea caught about 35 croakers and maybe half dozen blues. also ran out and fished the reef nothing there either. but Hey 75 gallons of gas and a sunburn still beats the heck outta work.
