So I'm making ribs tomorrow and wanted some good rub recipes.
I normally do something simple, or use a store bought BBQ rub. So who's got some good dry rubs for ribs? BB

I'm lucky enough to get some first-class ribs from a local butcher, so I keep it very simple: Sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, a little black pepper, and a little cayenne. I usually start with equal parts OP, GP, and Pap, match that amount with sugar, then pepper and cayenne to taste.
I cook these in a dry smoke with a very light spritzing of mop sauce, and I don't usually use a finishing sauce on these myself, but always have it available for others. If I get regular grocery store ribs, I've had good luck with the pre-mix stuff, and just season to taste with home spices. However, I usualy cook them different - apple juice mop with a water pan in the smoker, finish the last 30 minutes wrapped in foil, and I'll get a couple different finishing sauces to suit whatever I'm in the mood for that day. Edit: You didn't mention if you're planning on baby back, spare ribs, or some combination of the two. I usually go heavier on the spices and moisture for baby backs and loin backs, and lighter for spare ribs. And country style ribs belong in the crock pot ![]() |

Thanks GP, We usually do baby backs.
I've been looking around online and found everything from simple 4-5 spices to some with a dozen or more. Here's a couple that I found online if anybody's interested. 1/2 cup paprika 1/4 cup kosher salt, finely ground 1/4 cup sugar 2 tbs mustard powder 1/4 cup chili powder 1/4 cup ground cumin 2 tbs ground black pepper 1/4 cup granulated garlic 2 tbs cayenne pepper 1 cup brown sugar, dark 1/2 cup paprika 2 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon black pepper 1 tablespoon white pepper 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon garlic powder 1 tablespoon onion powder 2 tablespoons salt 2 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons ground cumin 2 tablespoons chili powder 2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 1/4 cup paprika BB

A guy I work with gave me this. Equal amounts of each
Salt, black pepper, brown sugar, and paprika. It's actually really good, but I'm going to start adding some other things with it and see where it ends up, lol |
