Wait to see if BTD has a sale. They usually have EVERYTHING on sale where as TW only has most....

Just got the update on Facebook from BTD - 21% off, 2 free rip baits and a t-shirt on $100+ orders. Free shipping as well. I got a couple Powell rods from them earlier this year. Very good service.

Cool - 20 off- just got one of the Abu Veritas and a Okuma Trio Spinning Reel in a size 30. Uesd one of these reels during the summer and loved it.
Should be a nice combo.

I really recommend you all check out http://www.thehookuptackle.com/
By combining the 20% off on their gift cards with the 20% off on everything they carry (except GLoomis, Daiwa, Jackall and Shimano) you can save 40%. But even with the 4 brands mentioned, you can still save 20% by using the gift cards. And if you do it by phone you can convert your gift cards to product in the same transaction. A really incredible deal.

TW has a facebook site where they post various items. The one that caught my attention yesterday was
"Team Daiwa Viento Casting Reels are $87.96 after Black Friday Sale discount! That's 54% off regular price for a saving of $112.99"

While it's not quite 40% off, it is still the best deal I've seen so far. The monkey has been sleeping peacefully for a few weeks, but now he's awake, and he's PISSED!

Also, I can't seem to find where it says 20% off gift cards... Got a link to that?

That it is.

Take what would be your original purchase price, subtract 20% to find how much in gift cards you'll need. Then subtract another 20% from that to find out how much you'll spend.

I've run a few different scenarios, and they all seem to lead to 36% off.

I don't think it does say specifically that gift cards are 20% off except that it's 20% off store wide. But, regardless, that is the deal. The best thing to do is just give them a call. And ya, it doesn't quite work out to 40%, your math is correct.

You should send those to me, cause if I can scrounge together a bit more cash, there may be a rod (or two) in my near future without reels.

I was kinda in the same boat, had more rods than reels, if you are planning on making any purchases in the next few days, I woulld def. check out thehookuptackle.com, these guys are extremely pleasant to work with, and the deal they have going on right now is almost too good to be true.

Hooked Up Tackle and The Hook Up Tackle are two different companies. And it's the latter that has the total of 36% off with the gift card trick.

I wasn't sure which you were referring to, so I thought I'd point this out.

I can't seem to checkout from their website. Should I just call and mention the giftcard thing so I'll get the 36% off? It just seems too good to be true but if It's working for u guys then I have to try

Yep, you have to order over the phone to do the gift card thing. Their website has been having problems on and off, probably due to the amount of people.
