Went out on the 17th with a co-worker and another friend out of Chesapeake Beach Maryland and headed out into the bay after some Rockfish(Striper for those non-Marylanders) We left the dock around 7:30AM and motored out to a spot straight out from the Marina. Trolled there for about 45 minutes with nothing happening but it was a good time shooting the sh*t amongst ourselves and grab some breakfast. Right around 8:30 we conferred and said that we would give the spot another 10 minutes and then head down a ways. No sooner do we say that we had 3 rods hook up as we trolled over a bump. Reel them in and we have 4 keepers as my buddies rod had a double on it. We reset the rods and turn around and head back over the bump. All 5 rods hit and the mad dash to reel them in ensues. After that we had another 6 keepers with another double. We 3 had our limit so we turned around to get 2 for the boat and mate and hadn't even gotten back to the bump and we get all 5 rods with a fish on again. We got the max limit and culled the 2 short fish and headed back in. We were only 10 minutes straight out from the Marina and we were back on the dock with a full boat at 9:15. We were back so fast that the cleaning guys onshore had to be called in as we were returning. We were done so fast we still hit Rush-Hour traffic from people heading into DC/Montgomery County but at least we were sitting in traffic with full coolers

Hey Panthrosan; Our year for Stripped bass was awesome here in Brooklyn and off the LI Sound. Deep Atlantic fish were huge, I caught a few pigs this year. Mostly on Sand Eels or Surgical tubes
What river do the Chesapeake fish use, here it is the Hudson Last edited by Ebbetsguy; 11-24-10 at 10:14 AM. |

The stripers use the lower potomac river, james river, and pretty much all the tributaries of the Chesapeake I guess and then the atlantic as well. We got all of this haul on jigheads with swimbaits on them and in the summer we had good luck with chopped bait on the bottom.
