Keeping track rods and reels
This interesting. A spreadsheet to keep track of your combos.

I made a spreadsheet like this a few years ago, mainly for insurance reasons. It helps keep track of what I have.

I would add date of last maintenance to the spreadsheet. Keep track of when you cleaned/lubed each reel.

I keep a similar spreadsheet myself for reasons much like bender stated.
I also include the rod's specs such as length, manufacturer, lure weight range, line range, power rating, and action. Jrob's suggestions sounds like something to add to the reel list. Thanks!

Haha, I'm sure it will come as no surprise to you that I've been doing this for a while, for a couple of reasons.
One, obviously it helps when deciding which reel should go with which rod, and what additional stuff to buy. Two, if you get the insurance adder to cover all of the gear in your boat, it sure is a big help, especially these days when a lot of tackle actually has serial numbers.

I've also got a spreadsheet. I also include more info on the rods than the one in the link.

I have a spreadsheet with all my rods and reels listed. I also have a picture of each rod and reel on the computer. Like someone said earlier, it is for insurance reasons. I saw this article a few days ago and it is worth reading. That site has a lot of good information.

I should probably do this. It is super hard keeping up with 5 rods and 5 reels...

For me, I keep it in a spreadsheet. What ever format you use, I suggest scanning in the receipt and attaching it to te rod and reel record.

I use the Fishinsight fishing log. It allows me to keep track the rods, reels, and line I have on each. Works for me.
