I was here in the garage putting new line on all my rods and I began to wonder why do I fill the spinning reel? I will usually replace line every 5-6 weeks or sooner if needed. I can not think of a time when any of my bass spinning rigs got down to the spool.
I do know that my bait casters do not cast as far with a half spool, but will it affect a spinning reel the same? I can see how I may see more friction on the spool with less line, but I am not sure how much it will matter. At the end of the day, I am just trying to save some money. Throwing away 100 yards of fluoro is getting old. Does anyone else not fill their spinning reels? Has anyone tried it and decided it was a bad idea.
