got the first bass out of the way this evening.
as some of you know, my nephew is on his high school bass fishing team. well he fished his first tourney today. launched at GADSDEN CITY LAUNCH ont he COOSA river. he didn't even get out of the launch area and was disqualified. the "captain" of the boat waked. they were one of the last boats to launch and didn't even get to launch. the fella who was "captain" is supposed ot be a semi pro. should've known better. but i heard that it was kinda ticky in how they dq'd them too. i wasn't there since i thought they were launching at neely henery. i got there at weigh in time. and took the kid and his dad (my brother) out for a while.
anyway, we went out and fished hard. nuthin! we threw lizzards, spinners, chaters, lipless cranks and jigs. then as we were putting everything away and i had 1 rod left out with a bil dance FLAT A shiner colored. silver with black back. 6-8 ft diver. threw it at the bank and almost as soon as it hit the water she hit. fought like a mad woman too. i wore her down and brought her in. i sent pics out to several of you guys here. she was short (bout 13 inches) but fat! full of eggs. so i threw her back and we headed in. it was nice to get out this evening, spending time with my brother and nephew was a kicker too. he is gonna be at wheeler in 2 weeks. i am going to try to go. wish him luck gang. he was very pee-od about the dq. i told him it would be better next time. this is HAYDEN BASS KID by the way. he is still working on his own rig i found for him. jsut ain't got the money to it all right now. but he will. he is working on the money part and is ready to hit the water with it. so.someone here might pos tthe pic for me since i can't. not a good pic but it was late and i was in a hurry. nice ot get the first one out of the way. now i am ready for more.

Way to go John! Did you let Lisa use that one for bait to catch a hawg for her birthday?
But at least you got to fish and catch something, I'm still waiting for the ice to melt... BB

thanks gang, it was nice to get the first one outta the way.
the water temps on g'ville 2 weeks ago was around 48 degrees in the upper area (b.b.comer bridge). this fish came out of the coosa river in gadsden,al. water temps was around 62 degrees. big difference huh? 2 different rivers within 30 miles distance. coosa is waht runs from tenn through ga, then into alabama. above where we were is weiss lake (mudhole as i call it). then it runs into neely henry. i am gonna go back to this area more this year i think. itis supposed to have big spots in it. we'll see.

I'm jealous Bama! I should be able to get out and go after some Bluegills in a month haha.
BTW...our local Gander has the world record bluegill on the wall. Caught in Alabama....
