Talking new to the forum, first post.

hey y'all! im new to bassfishin.com and i must say i absolutely love it so far. its extremely informative and i love being able to communicate with thousands of others who share my passion and love of fishing.

now that thats out of the way, i was wondering if i could get some opinions. on that glorious first day back out on the water, i was wondering what baits everyone was going to throw on that first cast. in my opinion, ill probably throw a LFT hyper worm on a strike king jig. or possibly just texas rig a senko. we'll see how i feel.

lastly, a question about jigs. how much of a difference is there between casting, finesse, and flippin jigs? (if there is a difference at all.) any input will be greatly appreciated! thanks so much for readin everyone!!!!

Welcome smitty!
First cast for me will definitely be a Spinnerbait. 2nd bait thrown will either be a Jitterbug or my new Frog.

Love those Hyper Worms as well!

Welcome Smitty, I will probably throw either, suspending pointer style jerkbaits, or Yo-Yo some Red Eye Shad in the areas that the fish hold in just before moving up to spawn.

Good luck and post some pics of your results, we love pics

Yeah, I'm a HUGE spinnerbait fan.
When you're not out there rippin lips, pull up a chair (and your hip boots), and tell a fishin lie or two.

Welcome Smitty!!..Look forward to having you here and BS'ing with us...

I recently found this today that I thought was kinda neat...Not all of it I agree with ,but could be very helpful for considering what to throw and when.

First off, welcome aboard! This is a great site and I know your going to enjoy it. I'm still waitting for ice out which should happen any day now. Right after ice out I'm going to have the following baits hangin from a rod. Chatterbait, jig, jerk bait-both suspending and floating, a medium depth crankbait like a DT10, and a lipless crank. After the water warms up in a few weeks, I'll be changing over from a chatterbait to a spinnerbait.

Hello Smitty and welcome aboard!

First cast I'll be throwing a suspending jerk bait, either a Lucky Craft Pointer or Rapala Husky Jerk. I'll also have a jig, a lipless crank and a Texas rigged Senko or Yum Dinger tied on.

Welcome to the place to be off the water Smit. My first cast this year was a crankbait, and went scratch until I went to a C-rig (1/8 oz bullet pegged) senko. But we are warming up down in the deep south. Can't wait to hit em with a spook, frog, or buzz.

Welcome to the site, Smitty!

Bass season here in MN doesn't open until the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend (as I'm sure the other guys on here are sick of me posting all the time!), so that might make things different for me than most others, but I will be tossing a 5" wacky-rigged senko first, followed closely by a dropshot and also some topwater (buzzers or frogs in very shallow water -- 3' and under).

Welcome to the site! Hip Boots are required equipment around here!

First cast of the year was at a pond about a month ago and it was with a lipless crankbait. When I go to Kentucky Lake on Saturday, the deck will be full of rods but the first cast will probably be with a red eye shad. It could be a shallow running crankbait but probably a red eye shad.

I’m going to throw some Yamamoto senkos and swim baits Texas rigged. I’ve never used them before some I’m anxious to see if they attract bass early on. Others will be some chigger craws and red eye shad in the shad colors.

Spinner baits and lipless cranks are good search baits. Once you find them, suspending jerk-baits, spoons and maybe a fluke. In the river, probably hair jigs.
