Capt Ken Dauberts desinger bass frogs
I recently purchased two to try,out of the pkg more realistic than in,legs kick each time its pulled forward.Hook placement is in the nose with a circle hook so that will have to be tested.Got a poison dart frog and a dark bull frog. ![]() |

i woud like to see it in action first. not saying it is a bad design, but if the legs "kick" out it could be DEADLY!

I'm very curious to see how that frog works for you. The design looks odd but I can see where the legs would have some good action. Let us know what happens.

Actually looks better out of the pkg than in,hold one up those legs hang down ,move it they do as well, sort of a kick motion when jerked forward.
Tried one today just to see the action, there is none straight forward yet swims,no side to side at all straight line swim and looks real.It sits low in the water only head and eyes appear above the water line unless you pull forward then for a moment it does rise up then a resulting kick behind.Run fast semi disappointing run slow looks real. Yes the ten dollar clone, each series is more real and lifelike than the preceeding. Hook placement is sort of sideways not up and down thu front eye, hook is a circle hook, but hate the lil rubber guards,to hard to put back in place and not tuff enuff. Standard weed guard hook with a spring would be a decent replacement. Note natural series frogs since most of body is slightly under the water except head and eyes are going to be hard to keep an eye on,easily lose it in pads or weeds. One of the brighter colors at least on its back is easier to keep in view. For the discriminating bass just sitting in a jungle, its going to be a killer slower frog on them. I actually thought since front hook placement that on many days here they grab them by the legs and it would be a great lure for scouting and not sticking fish. May happen at times, but think they will explode on them as silhouette is to real. Send me the link for a two for one price LOL get me a semi to load up with. 9.99 ea like 5.65 shipping covers 1-5 frogs. I sometimes think with a standard frog we cover areas to fast moving say ten ft over at a time, well not all bass are always that active, ive run up on the troller on some that had a hole dug and were comfy not hitting at any bait prior to the spook. This is the bait for that discriminating fish waiting for a tidbit to drop in,the kind that makes a reaction strike but does not chase. Other species find it attractive as well, only hit I had in 49 f water was from a large gar, using 30 pd power pro still lost the frog,as no boat bank and crappie stakebeds. The hit from that 4 ft gar was almost worth ten bucks. And yes back end of cove had surfaced lilly pads just topping. I nearly bought this the other day. Then I realized that these models are the cheapo version of the one used in the website's video to hook into a couple of 10+ pounders.
The detail on the original is significantly greater - and it makes me wonder if they might have changed the materials to cut costs, as well... |

Yes the cheapo version, yet still realistic, each version being even more so,few people fish the 60 dollar artist version they set it on a table and make burnt offerings to it,as numbered signed etc.
Being a poor ol folk on SS id be afraid to throw one for fear of losing it. The original or even replicant series is hand painted not machine made, should be more detail id think. Not everyone will want one,but to those that do it is a decent tool when used in the right application. That being slowing down after covering ones favorite hole and catching those fish left with it. The legs themselves are a cheaper version yet work, all series legs work on all the other series,so spend 4 bucks more for a different even more realistic look can be used on any of them. The only thing I dont like is the weed guard easily fixed, and im glad its the cheapo otherwise couldnt afford. A "Subtle" FROG, an "Attractor Pattern", and a "Natural Imitator" depending upon pattern, and a skitter leg kit will be available soon has an entirely different action, horny toad like, and a popular major online store is making offers to carry,so may be more readily available soon.
