The way I understand it is the Seige has better abration resistance so it's better for working around heavy cover and brush, docks and so forth. I use the Elite in 12 pound for my more open water crankbaits.

Been fishing the elite, man that stuff is stronger than steel lol..
I was wondering which one is supposed to cast better , imo the elite does cast better than trilene XT in comparable pound test ,and its more translucent where XT is a cloudy color. |

I have thrown both and didn't see too much of a difference on casting. The Siege had more inital memory, but it is not much worse than any other mono.
I have stuck with the Siege because it is more readily available around me.

I use(d) both of them...The elite is my favorite mono compared to the several Ive tried...I used the elite for cast and retrieve techniques and used Siege for bottom and rough fishing.
The Seige is definitely more abrasion resistant..Not the greatest compared to others high abrasive lines imo,but still a very good and easily manageable line. Im currently driving this PL fluroclear gravy train at the moment.

Sufix siege is your XT
Sufix Elite for your XL Elite is great for crankbaits, spinnerbaits and top water. It's very limp, casts very well, and good stretch for the above techniques. I used some a year or so ago, and liked it. Still to much stretch for jigs, worms, and if you're trying to lug fish out of deep cover. I've also got a spool of 12lb for my crankbait rod this year, we'll see how it works! Siege is good for fishing around tough stuff. Weeds, rocks, and wood. This was also the first line I ever used on a bait caster! I was still getting the nack down for casting the thing, and would always cast deep in wood, and tullies. I'd bring this stuff in with hardly a nick on it. Great line if you're fishing fast baits like spinnerbaits, and shallow cranks around wood or what ever kinda cover would regularly eat your line up. Albeit it's not as tough as CXX, but it's much for castable than it. It'll do for jigs and worms in a pinch as well.

Use the Elite on spinning reels as it seems to have less memory. Do not use in cover or bottom fishing in rocks and laydowns.

Elite and Siege are both great, and the only mono I buy anymore. The Siege is more abrasion resistant, and MAYBE a little stiffer, but not much if at all.
