Line Conditoner

Is line conditioner only for mono line or can you use it on braided line , florocarbon etc ?

It's for anything and everything, especially fluorocarbon. It helps keep the line limber and flexible so you're less likely to kink it and break off, also helps casting distance. I don't really think you'll need it for braid, but it probably wouldn't hurt anything.

I have used it on all three and it works great. I dont think braid needs it though. I suggest you use KVD line and Lure

I agree and no it won't hurt braid at all. KVD Line and Lure Conditioner is the only way to go!

i use it like crazy. and it works good on braided line too.

Yeah it's good on anything! My dad likes it on braid, but don't.. it's not that I don't like it, I just don't feel their's any improvements. Also it's a must with fluoro.

I must be an odd duck when it comes to line conditioner. I use the KVD stuff and have for two years now. I do it because so many guys in here swear by the stuff and I know it won't hurt anything. But to be honest, I've not noticed any improvments with my line or casting since I started to use the stuff.

Line 'conditioners' definitely have their place in serving as a softener and lubricant, especially for inherently stiff flourocarbon lines. Although I lack the necessary tools to do a chemical analysis, all the 'conditioners' I've seen have the look and feel of a water-based acrylic. If this is the case, I wonder if "Armor All" might work just as well. It could be a bit too 'sticky' but I'm thinking I'll try it someday with some old flourocarb line just to see what happens.

Pro reel could probably shed more light on this than I can. But I have been using KVD Line and Lure conditioner for several years now and I used Reel Magic before that and I have yet to have it cause any problems nor have I heard from anyone else that either of them caused them any reel problems. Line conditioners are safe for your reel when used as intended. The exception would be products like Reel Magic, WD-40 etc. should not be sprayed inside your reel. The petroleum distillates used to make them sprayable actually disolve grease.

KVD Line & Lure works differently and is a much better product.

You and me both, Keith. I use fluoro on several set-ups and have never really had any issues with it. I just started using KVD line conditioner last year, but I can't say I really noticed any difference.

I spray KVD line conditioner on all my setups at least one hour before I go fishing. I also make sure I spray some on a rage and clean all the guides with it. It helps me with casting distance and line tangles. I fish braid with pure fluoro leader on one setup and mono on my other setups. I think KVD conditioner is good stuff and much better than the Magic Reel, my opinion.

Line conditioners, especially Reel Magic, when overused can get into and mess up your drag, On bait caster.
I use Original Stren, mostly and some Berkley XL and Cabelas Mono
no problem with memory, and as far as mono use is concerned, line conditioner is much ado about nothing.

I used both Reel Magic and the KVD (products from god) product and there were no benefits when using the mono brands just mentioned when used on Pflueger and Abu bait casting reels
