Default Hummingbird 987c

I just picked up a Hummingbird 987c for a price I almost feel guilty about. If any one can give me tips from where to put the transducer to settings that would be a great help. I have a Lund 1890 to mount the transducer on. Need help as it was a quick decision to pick it up has all the latest bells.
Thanks in advance

This is from a marine dealer that handles your boat, when mounting directly to the transom, how to to determine whether you will have any interference from you imaging transducer. Install everything except your transducer. Run your coax and wire your current according to the manufacturer's instructions, hence avoiding one or more of the all too common issues of inferior sounding. Put your boat in the water...put yourself in the water (ie. waist deep) ... and mark your loaded at rest transom waterline. From your position in the water to observe your monitor or with the help of a buddy, move your transducer around on your transom until you locate a desirable location for mounting. It may be that raising your motor somewhat is the only answer. Mark your at rest loaded waterline and the location chosen for mounting. Unless you are using an imaging transducer which has the capability for high speed use(yours), locate a spot for your transducer above your running surface and below the at rest loaded waterline you have identified. Note: there are only a few basic rules to follow for mounting any transducer on anyboat ,motor may also have to tilted a tad more in order to not be blinded by lower unit.
Obviously it can also be placed on the front troller.

It is a pretty simple install. Your mechanic should be able to do it in 20 min or so. That's all it took for mine.

Make sure you hook up the power supply properly. If it isn't hooked up correctly you can get half the screen not showng properly due to the unit not getting enough power from the battery.

This video tells how to mount the transducer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1-91uZMoCs

And this is some basic settings: http://youtu.be/YV-Rh8wXTY0

You'll want to run SI on 455kHz ande 2D on 50/200 kHz for best performance.
