What is the best all around color for a topwater frog for fishing year round in stained water?

I really think that we often over think color when it comes to top water. I am sure that plenty of folks will say natural, black, or green.
If I was going to pick just one, I would likely go with Black.

I like the Spro frog in black... not saying it's the best... but it works well.

Depends on the sky conditions, white, black, and watermelon are what I throw. If I had only one though I would say white. Every thing that swims has a lighter belly with a darker back.

Since your water is stained year round, I'd probably go with black as I think that would be the most visible to the bass, especially in low light conditions. However white has always been a good color for me too, probably for the reason Lvitch pointed out. I'd prefer to have both in my box and let the bass tell me what they prefer.

I think color visibility is more important to me than to the fish, at least with the way I fish it. I rely more on surface disturbance and sound to attract fish and being able to see the bait clearly allows me to fine tune the presentation and white stands out the best. However if I don't get bit in what I think is a reasonable period of time, I switch to black. If that doesn't work, I go to chartreuse belly/green top before I give up entirely.

The spro jr and popin frog in black are two of the most popular on ky lake, however being a creature a bit different i toss colorfull stuff, easier for me to see.
Poisin dart desinger bass frog, its bright yellow and black like a bumble bee.And unlike a spro I never ever have to squeeze it out. ![]() |

I totally agree that we tend to get carried away with colors for frogs. I like green, brown, black, and white. And honestly I don't think I need to carry that many colors.
