Hey fellas. My old crackberry is getting grouchier by the day. It has been a good phone for the past 5 years though. But I will probably be stepping up to the touch screen phone on my next purchase. While my wife has an iPhone, I am leaning more on the Android side of things. Do you guys have any recommendations for me? I am looking at the Samsung Infuse or the Captivate. Anybody have any dealings with them?

Good thread Bubba, I'm in the exact same boat. I'm leaning Infuse but welcome suggestions.
Interesting read http://www.technewsdaily.com/iphone-...-compare-2648/

I had a blackberry for a couple years and never really liked it. Only a few spots for icons on the home screen and the trackball barely worked when it was replaced. I upgraded to a Motorola Droid, and instantly became an Android fan. I really like the customizing you can do with the Android platform. I also like the Droid because, unlike my blackberry, it came with a 16gb memory card.
The droid is pretty fast, much faster than my BB, and you gotta love all the free apps on the Android App Market. It's pretty heavy, which I got used to and now like. The physical keyboard on the original droid sucks because of the d-pad. it offsets the keyboard, making typing difficult. I find typing on the Droid 2's physical keyboard much better (my friend's got one). BB

bubba........i know EXACTLY what kind of phone is right for oyu my friend. it's simple to operate and easy ont he ol wallet. go down to the hardware store, get the biggest rool of construction twine they got...no wait, get 5 of em. now go over to the paper isle. get a big ol bag of them paper cups. take out 2. punch a hole in the bottom of each one, slip the end of 1 roll of twine into it. then unwind it and do the same to the other end (this is where oyu may need to tie on the other roll of twine if needed.)
and there ya have it. a phone you can use without any of the gadgets n stuff. straight talk. BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!!

I have an HTC Incredible, and i really like it. I havent used any other smart phones, so I cant really compare it to anything else. But I've had it for more than six months and I'm still finding out new stuff about it. GPS, Google maps, all kinds of stuff.

The IPhone vs Droid debate really comes down to one question. Do you want a better piece of hardware or better software?
The Droid is hands down a better physical device. It has greater intial capacity, speed, and the keyboard makes it easier to type on. Apple has MANY more apps. Hence their big advertising phrase of "there is an app for that"

Bubba I am getting ready to upgrade my droid, I have a droid incredible. If you are looking to get your start with a droid I would go with and x2 or a droid incredible 2. I have narrowed mine down to those two. They would be good for you first Droid Phone.

Well I went for the Motorola ATRIX 4G & I am digging it. I haven't even scratched the surface yet but nothing came up for an app to wash dishes or mute the wife. But I am still on the hunt and might be able to figure a few things out while I have some down tine at work. It is set up pretty identical to the iPhone, maybe a tad smaller and I am have trouble figuring out his to shut down background running ops. But due time, I will have this baby whistling dixie.
