ALL the above pal. try it one way, if that doesn't work, try it another, then so on and so forth. this is what i have been taught form childhood. if oyu think oyu're going to slow during the hotest part of summer, slow down some more.
don't know the temps where oyu are but here it is around 100 plus with the heat index, so water temps are around the high 80's. so wheni throw a plastic of any kind, if they ain't hitting it right off.......i slow it down. i TRY to put it right under their nose first. let it sit for a bit, then twitch it. drag it. hop it. make it look like it sees the predator and is either wanting to make a quick get away or slowly crawl away. sometime si even SWIM it along the edge of the grass line. give them all ashot ans see which one works best for you buddy.

thanks for the help. I've been trying them all, and really only got a bite today when I was just cranking really slowly, with the occasional twitch

I usually drag mine, with intermittent hops. But I do use all of the retrieves you listed. It also depends greatly on what type of bait. A t-rigged weightless senko gets more of a twitch, twitch, pause type retrieve. A t-rigged Chigger Craw gets more hops and dragging rather than twitching.

now in MY personal experience, it is WHERE you cast it mostly. soft plastics need to be put RIGHT in front of their noses. at least it does for me. look for heavy cover when casting a owrm. pull it beside the edge of the grass lind, log, tree or whatever. hop it a bit, alternating different methods. try that. drag, twitch, drag and so forth all in the same retrieve.

I like to drag them along the bottom giving them the occasional snap just to get any fallows that might be their to react and bite. I'll drag them til it come along something that makes it harder to crawl or when it catches something, I'll give it hard snap to free it. This kicks up some derbies and I'll get bit most often right then too, or shortly after it falls.

Im with BB.... I tend to go T-Rig mostly when night fishing. I drag it slowly til i hit a rock or something then pop it over said rock. If I do decide to use it during the day, it is usually pitching it around stickups and laydowns. Its more of a vertical presentation this way. I let it fall then rip it up and let it fall again.

Find a shallow quiet body of crystal clear water and spend some time watching your baits as you work them along the bottom. Pay attention to how long it takes for the worm to settle motionless. Remember this when you're back to fishing for bass.

I put the hook in, I push the hook back out, I put the hook back in and I shake it all about. I do the twitchy twitchy and set back on the hook. That's what its all about. Sang to the theme of the Hookie Pookie. Thank You Thank You

You crack me up BB. hahaha If I'm fishing a worm I will generally try to keep it close to any cover I think a bass will be hiding in. A gentle crawl with the occational short hop is my usuall. Often I will cast the worm out and let it settle. Then I will hold the rod still in one hand while the other hand holds the line and gives it gentle twitches. Thats been a killer technique for me, especially with Senko style baits.

How about adding this to the thread? What size and type (lead or tungsten) do you use? What about line type and size? Rod length and action?

A: As little weight as possible, usually 1/8oz or less, none if possible. Lead because I am cheap.
B: 20# braid. 12# Flouro leader, both for conficence and to help the worm sink a bit faster.
C: 6'6" Medium weight, fast action.

danny, i use a 1/4 ounch bullet weight most of the time. sometimes if the plastic is real small, i'll got to a 3/16 weight. hooks i use are either 3-5 ought. depending on the plastic again. line? anywhere form a 10# mono to a 14# mono, again depends ont he bait and where i am fishing it. most of the time (because of the grass i fish) i use braided line. rod length is mostly a 7-7 1/2 footer, action varies from med to heavy action and tips are usually med to heavy.

I use 1/4oz lead and 3/0-5/0 hooks depending on thinckness of the bait. 6'6" MH rod and 14lb flouro. I will go down some on weight size when fishing in creeks and want the bait to move with the current some.
