I'll have a few words with the big guy upstairs and see if I've still got any pull.

Gheezz, THANKS GUYS. I'm still in the hospital. What was supposed to be and overnight stay turned in to almost an entire week. I had a complication due to the surgery and it put me down and in a lot of pain for several days. I was not allowed to eat or drink ANYTHING for 36 hours after they figured out what the problem really was and got me on a course of corrective action.
I hope to be home tomorrow, good Lord willing. Another couple weeks and I'm hoping to get back on the water. The last 4 days have been very difficult, but I've turned the corner and am on the way back up. Today is the fist day since last Wednesday that I had enough control of my senses to check my emails and the boards I usually visit.
The actual surgery for my illness went well, it was another problem that put me down. So, hopefully tomorrow I can go home and start the recouperation process. Thanks agian to all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers.

At last Bruce is getting his sense of humor back. I thought the surgeon slipped and removed it.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Bruce. Sorry you had to endure an ordeal like that. Hopefully you'll be back in a boat and enjoying a day on the water soon. Take care pal.

FREED AT LAST. Tonight I was released from the hospital and I just got home a little while ago. Three days of additional testing and specialists and no one could find the reason for the rise in my white cell count. Only a slight fever accompanied it and no other symptoms could be found to support infection anywhere in my abdominal cavity. I have no pain, only a little discomfort. It will be about a six week recovery, but I think I can get out fishing a little if I have someone with me to load my boat. I think the kayak is out of the question for at least a month or longer.

So let the healing begin and I think physical therapy starts next week. Tomorrow I have to call and set that up.

So an overnight stay for prostate removal due to cancer, turns in to 8 days at a less than 5 start resort - LOL. So that's the story guys - cancer - I didn't say anything earlier as I wanted to be free of cancer before I mentioned it. I was lucky, mine was found early and I was able to have it taken care of. After the biopsy of the removed organ, the cancer was found to be (as believed by all my tests) localized and contained and I am now cancer free. To all my older friends here, be sure to get checked regularly, a simple blood test can do it, but there are other tests your doctor may perform, and believe me - those checkups are not that bad. Finding this one early is the answer to being cured.

Praise God you caught it early and it was taken care of. A good bit of advice for all of us to get ourselves checked out. I did that this spring. Sooo I am going to assume your "physical therapy" will be done on a bass boat? lol Seriously Bruce. I'm so glad your home and doing well. Take it easy, relax and let the healing do it's thing. Thanks for filling us in on how you are doing.
