Has anyone tried this new line from Berkley yet. If so what is your opinion of the line.

I saw it at cabelas a few weeks ago, it looked nice. extremely smooth, and super thin. It was however pretty flat, not round like mono or fluoro. Not to big of a deal IMO, and it it's advertised pro's out weight that con.
Just my opinion, hope this helps! ![]()

I've fished a spool of 10lb NanoFil on the water a couple of times and have mixed opinions:
From the box it has a very round profile, but can be flattened with my fingers. 6' of the line did flatten while I was fishing an in-line spinner. It is very, very slick and consistently casts 10% - 15% farther than 10lb Fireline. It is white and is much harder for me to see than a hi-vis color. I fished a shallow boulder reef for smallies... the Nanofil appeared very abrasion resistant. I fished a #3 Blue Fox in-line spinner for an hour... the line itself twisted but didn't transfer the twisting back to the lure. It held the flattened, twisted profile. Other people have written about the difficulty with knots slipping. A regular palomar terminal knot held adequately through 3 hours of fishing and an Alberto knot joining 8lb fluorocarbon held for me. I leave 3/8" braid tag ends when I tie knots. After two short trips (a few hours each) I noticed the Alberto knot had slipped to the point of not leaving any of the braid tag. The Alberto knot showed signs of abrasion after a couple of short fishing jaunts and several hours of casting from my dock. I've ordered a spool of 10lb Sufix 832 and want to compare these lines side by side. The NanoFil casts very well but may have several limitations that negate this strength. oe |

I imagine they will work out the kinks if they want to keep this line going for the long run. I hate using gear when it first comes out. 7 of 10 times it will have a bug or two.
