Default What happened at the pond?

Okay so i woke up early today and rode my bike to my local pond. Small lake only a hand full of people fish the lake. All my fishing buddies where still asleep so i was by myself. I went to this small point my cousin showed me he said a 3 lber is usually there. I cast how nothing and was fishing there for like 20 mins. I here a bass jump and see the splash. So i go and look to see if i can cast there. I then see some mud kicked up and thought it was the carp in the lake (carp, koi, and two snapping turtles) then i see some more mud kicked up like 30 feet away they charge at each other and create this huge wake both of them and splash. i didnt see any outlines of fish or turtles i was kinda freaked out because i go this lake everyday i see the turtle often and sometimes the koi but i have no idea what this. then i go to the other side and fish this one sunken tree and this GIANT splash and when i say big the ripples went across the pond (the pond is about 2 acres) i didnt see any trees the fallen in the big splash was like 40 feet from the first splash thing. I have no idea at all what it is. There are no pike pickerel musky walleye none of those fish in the lake. only large mouth bass blue gill and some small cats. my only guess would be the two snapping turtles. does anyone have any other ideas or similar stories?

Sounds like some big bass to me. I'd try going back tossing a buzzbait.

Are there Gar in there as well?
Carp down here always bust the surface and make huge commotions in the water.
The fish charging each other sounds like one's trying to steal the others meal.

No telling what species it was,.. A scientific probing tool like a spook may be in order!

no there are no gar the pond is very small we joke around saying its just a puddle with bass in it. the big 2nd splash could be the carp but the charging that was weird

I fish a pond almost identical to the one you described. I can almost guarantee you it's carp jumping. They are very social, meaning they swim frequently in packs. They jump and break surface to clean thier gills out from bottom fishing all day. Also they are one of the few fish with like an air bladder that they fill to fish or swim to or towards the surface and my understanding is they will break surface to empty the bladder so they can go back to bottom fishing. No expert, just my understanding!

yea i have seen that before but there is only one carp it is a shallow lake i have talked to security guards teachers they told me whats in it like the 2nd splash most likely was the carp but the charge this was my real question i put the 2nd splash if anyone thought of some connection idk i will most likely go back again haha never boring on the lake

Thats what I was thinking. I've had experiences many time very early in the morning from a bever. It was still a little dark and I never saw it untill after it splashed and surfaced further away.
