WMAYBIn,
Just don't get it on your boat or yourself. It don't wash off. Also, don't use it on plastics that already have the scent cooked in if you buy the garlic scent dye. I like it for fishing plastics. I dip about an inch of the tail on lizards and some worms. I use it to color the tips of craw worm pincers that I use on jigs. I dip about 1/2 inch of the tenticles on tubes to give them a little different look. This is just a few ideas that I use, you will be able to think up a lot of your own. Just remember it does not come out of boat carpet or seats, your clothes or off your hands. I have not tried them yet, but I am leaning more and more towards using the pens instead of the dipping solution for that reason. JackL |

Thanks Jakl, Just tried it and the stuff dries pretty quick! Looks good too. What is the reason for not using it on scented baits and what about salt impregnated ones?

MWAYBIN,
If you use it on scent impregnated baits, the garlic scent in the Spike-It may cause a reaction to the cooked in scent of the other baits. You may not have bought the Garlic scent Spike-IT, and therefore it may not be a problem. I see no reason why it would not work on salt impregnated baits. JackL |

![]() I have used it before. I dip the tails of flukes and zoom speed worms. It works, especially at this one resevoir that I fished some last year. The fish there would bite other things sometimes, but they really liked the tail of the worms or flukes dipped in the spike-it. The only color I have used is they yellow w/garlic. Kevin |

It is great stuff. I use the watermelon color on pumpkin colored baits . The pumpkin color varies alot so with the watermelon color added ,you get different shades of green pumpkin. I also dip jig trailer claws once in a while. P N J

I will have to agree with everyone else. It has been a good addition to my tackle box. I like to take a black neon colored tube and dip the bottom half of the tail in orange die and it is DEADLY in stained water. I will say JackL is correct that it will stain clothes, carpet, seats, and you so be careful with it. I think the die pens wouldn't be quite as messy.

Yep-the chartreuse is great in stained water. If you do spill it, nice thing is it fades pretty quick-at least the chartreuse does. You can also get a neutralizer for it.

UNCLE LIZ,
Every time I open my bottle of Spike-It my buddy thinks he smells pizza. Must be the garlic in the mix. JackL |

Color Rite is the same stuff and is a little cheaper when buying direct, plus there's a better variety than buying Spike-it from basspro. (3.50 vs 3.99) Some of the lures pictured were dyed with dye and the eyes were applied with Spike It chunk paint. (ie double dip series at the top of the page.) http://senkosam.blogspot.com/ Hand pours and assembled hybrids Sam |

Yep. You can get a neutralizer for it. It is in an identical bottle and usually hangs right next to the dye.

normally i pre dye a hand full of baits-the ones i normally dye - i use the dip dye and dye them the color i want then let them dry in the sun on a hunk of plywood-so it don't soak thru-when you dip them make sure that if it is a ribbon tail worm that the tail is straight and NOT touching it self any where this dye is. the dye is like rubber cement it bonds to it self when wet if it drys it will not come apart with out tearing the bait. for this reason i make sure that the tails are straight and not touching.

I've used the garlic chartruese dip dye- worked great! Messy though, I use the markers now-MUCH better. Its a little messy on the fingers but thats better than on your carpet or even worse on someone elses
