First time

I'm using my Christmas present for the first time tonight. My parents got me an electric smoker, and I'm doing a pork butt for our Superbowl meal tomorrow.
So, in honor of Zooker, here are a few pictures to make you jealous and hungry.........eat your heart out.

Step 1: Still in its pure form.


Step 2: Rubbed and placed in the smoker.


Step 3: About 3.5 hours in.

that looks AWESUM! daniel texted me aobut hte rub recipe, made my mouth water. and JUST NOW he sent me a picture text of the what looks like final product. GOOD LAWD!! IT LOOKS SO DANG GOOD I MAY BE LEAVING FOR MISSISSIPPI IN A MINUTE. can't wait to read how he did. if pictures are a sign........the boy did fantastic.

I just took it off the smoker, wrapped it in aluminum foil and a towel, and set it in a cooler to rest.
Step 4: Dang, I'm hungry now......

I kinda tested it when I took it off. Some of the bark stuck to the grill with some meat attached. It had a little too much char flavor, since it was 80% bark, but man.....I can't wait.

Dangit man, that looks awsome!!! When do you start serving??? My mouth is drooling here for sure. What kind of smoker did you get? I'd like to look into getting a smoker myself. Just not sure what to look for with so many to choose from. All I can say is it's great to be a carnivore!!! haha

Ron, I'm not sure what all we're having.....we're going to a friend's house for the game, and she's doing most of it. I'll let you know, though.
Keith, its a MasterForge electric smoker. It looks like an orange R2-D2. Plug it in, set the temp, drop in 3-4 chunks of wood, and add the meat. I only had to add wood once last night, and it smoked for a little over 12 hours.

Mmmmmm.....ribs. Gonna try those soon, I think. Although Louann doesn't like eating meat off the bone like that. Maybe I'll smoke them and strip them off for her....

John mine uses small wood chips that you can buy about $4 or $5 a bag, different woods.
Like Daniels you set the temp and timer, add wood chips every 2 hours or so and your good to go. Very handy, I like it.
Daniel, I smoked a brisket a couple of weeks ago that was awesome.

I'm in the market for one myself. Been passing over the Masterbuilts for the Bradleys due to bad reviews.
Have you needed to use their customer service? That was a big issue when I was reading reviews

No problems yet. I saw where they had problems with wiring melting. But supposedly they got it fixed. I got it for X-mas this year, but I have used about 6 times so far.
