Just started my first real job in my career field and am making decent money for the first time and figured I'd treat myself to some new stuff. Something I havent been able to in a while.
I was planning on getting a few baitcasters this yr and cannot afford all nice ones. I didnt have enough for a nice one yet and wasnt even really planning on getting a reel but I went to Dicks and saw they had a Lew's Speed Spool the $99.99 one. I've heard great things about Lew's higher end reels so I looked on my phone at tackle warehouse and for the most part this reel has gotten nothing but great reviews, so I figured id give it a try. When I got off work this morning I headed down to the bay to try and catch some pike, mainly just to try the reel out. I got to the bay and it was crazy windy but I got a few casts in, and when I got home I casted and pinched it around. Although it kinda feels on the cheap side, no clicking star drag either it feels real nice for the most part. Its real smooth, and for the most part I like it. I never would have thought I would buy a non-Shimano reel! I played around with a Revo SX at Dicks and I think thats the next reel im getting, never really cared for them probably because I was in denial but boy are those pretty sharp! Do any of you know if I could put the Lews Tournament Speed Spool Pro handle on this reel? And maybe the star drag? I know it wouldnt be clicking. ![]() I went ahead and bought some plastics and some hooks as well. AND YES THOSE ARE KINKY BEAVERS! I was shocked that dicks had them. For some reason I cannot get the picture to flip. It shows it right side up in photobucket but for some reason it wont post that way, sorry ![]() I know most of you guys probably hate cats, I dont care for them either but my cat is the man! Hes a lazy ole fat cat, he was trying to get into everything when I was taking pics. ![]() |

Im real excited to try those powerbait 10" worms.
Last summer I caught TONS of fish on just the regular 7" powerbait worms. Im hoping to catch a monster this summer on those boys. |

Cats are awesome. But I do wonder how he's going to take having to compete with the bait monkey for your attention now.

Nice score and congrats on the new job. I'm anxious to try those Kinky Beavers too, they look great. I'm a cat man myself, nothing to be ashamed of, yours is pretty.

Nice haul, bh! Great looking cat, too. We have 3 cats, all over 10 years old, plus a 70 pound dog who all rule our house.

Good haul! I think you'll be pretty happy with that reel!
![]() Nice looking cat too, not usually a cat fan, but had this one cat for a couple years and I sweat the thing stayed a kitten forever! lol Real play full thing, lol.

Congrats on the nice haul. I've never heard anyone complain about the Lews reels made now days, so I'm sure your going to enjoy it. And when you get that SX, your going to love it! I like cats myself. Have 2 dogs and a bird, so no cats. But I'd love to have a Maine Coon some day.

I ended up actually returning the Lews speed spool yesturday and im gonna use the money towards a Revo SX tomorrow when I get paid or maybe order a PQ. I figured hell for only $70 more bux I could get the SX. I never bought into all the REVO craze you guys talk about and ive never cared for them ive always been a shimano dude but boy those revos do feel REALLY nice! The clicking spool adjust or w/e is a nice touch as well! The lews reel worked great but it just felt cheap and didnt even have clicking star drag. And when it comes to any hobby or anything in my life I like to have the very best I can afford or really cant afford! lol. BTW Keith those Maine Coon cats are freakin' sweet! I love those greyish almost blue looking colored cats, those things are huge to! But ya my cat is such a fatass, hes always scavenging for food its ridiculous. Hes even eaten a chicken wing bone before! He turned out being OK thankfully |
