Default What has 2 thumbs....

....and is fishing tomorrow?

THIS GUY!

The weather has been unreal lately and if you looked up "In need of tacklebox therapy", it would say "See Mallen"

Walked a little over a mile yesterday after work, to get my truck out of winter lockdown, and I'm gearin up for Mud Lake tomorrow morning.

I have zero clue as to what's in that lake, so I'm actually buying crawlers and hauling bobbers tomorrow. Bass season isn't open and this is as much a fact finding trip, as it is a fishing trip, so it might end up a panfish day.

I was hoping a buddy could go with me, but when your fishing partner is married with children......I'll be dragging my yak through the wooods.

Regardless, unless I'm mauled by a cougar, bear or pack of coyotes, it's gonna be a great day!!!!!!!!!

Good news Mallen!
Hope you catch a few pans so you can have a nice fry.

My friends tell me that COUGARS mauling you is actually quite enjoyable!
Have a great day!

Good luck Mallen. Looking foreward to what you find. You forgot to mention running into a honey badger. Nasty little cusses.

Haha, thanks guys! I was damm near mauled by a Cougar once. Her house had views of Lake Michigan in the back, and Lake Leelanau in the front.

When she finished off a bottle of wine, she tossed it down the bluff and into the woods.
Sigh......

Tried to report the days outcome Saturday night, but pics wouldn't load, and never got around to it yesterday

The weekend's fishing was pretty much a bad news/good news type thing.

Put in at Mud Lake Saturday morning.
Bad news-entire lake is like 1 foot deep.
Good news-I found this out before bass season started

Hauled the yak back through the woods, loaded up and headed for Otter Lake (my favorite Spring time lake).
Bad news- found out my fishfinder went tits-up in the offseason.
Good news-I found out before bass season started
And I caught the first bass of the season. Not a big one by ANY stretch of the word, but it felt good just the same.

Thats too bad about Mud lake, but at least you know now. Might be a great waterfowl hunting lake if it's allowed there. Congrats on the nice bass. It has great coloring.

Hey mallen....First way to go on #1.....second Mud Lake may have come by it's name for a good reason but---------------Might be a good idea to ck it again when you've got more time. I don't recall how many acres you said it was but I found a lake back home 30 years ago that was 30+ acres and only 12-18 inches deep everywhere except for 3 little one acre sinkhole/springheads about 10-12' deep...just enough deep water to overwinter........phenominal fishery!

Test runs are nice. At least you got the skunk off for the year.

Thanks guys!

And Joe...your post reminds me of a comedy bit...Foxworthy?

"ol Mallen's a great friend. You get thrown in jail, he'll come down and bail you out!"
"If Mallen was a great friend, his *** would be in there with ya!"
