Made it out onto the big water yesterday and was able to manage a decent 19-3 bag of smallies. Big bass was 5lb. 2oz.!! Also had several in the 4 lb. range and quite a few from 2-3 lbs. Caught most of the fish on a Jackall Crosstail Shad dropshotted in various colors. And caught the two big girls in 6 feet of water digging a Strike King 5XD into the bottom! Both of them hit those crankbaits with about 7-8 feet of line out right next to the boat. That made for some exciting jumps and tugging until they were put in the net!
Also thought I would share some pics of the new gear... First is a Revo MGX in 7.9:1 ratio. So far I absolutley love this reel. It feels very small in hand next to my Premiers, but it is rock solid, and has a ton of power. I have it on a 7' M-MF Veritas. Also new is my DS rod... a 7' M-XF Kistler Helium LTA. It has been the best DS rod I have put my hands on yet. The rod has such a soft tip on it (but not too soft to throw 3/8-1/2 weights) and the tip transfers right into backbone. Got it matched up with my Pflueger Patriarch and the thread raps are metalic blue which match the reel perfectly. Pics are below! Ryan

Beautiful gear Ryan. Would that Kistler double as a shaky head rod?

Bob, I haven't tried it as a a shaky head rod, but I intend to shortly. It should be a good rod for it though. Plenty of backbone, and a nice soft tip for feeling the slightest taps.
Ryan
