I bet it pays good, but I promise you it doesn't pay good enough.

How much money do you make as a tower climber?

It depends on who you work for. Some companies don’t pay very well, so it varies. Last year, I think I made $60,000. But that’s working 60 hours a week on average.

For $60000,wow. This guys from Cedar Rapids Iowa.

You would really think they would make alot more.
I know some insulaters that get paid more based on how high up they work but they are in noway taking as many risks, OSHA just won't allow it.
I thought I enjoyed hieghts but watching the vid made me queasy.

It reminds me of the guys who work on live high voltage transmission lines by helicopter. Crazy.

I equate this to jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, just for fun-parachute
Bungee jumping from New River gorge bridge, playing hot potatoes with live hand grenades.

Wow I am not afraid of heights at all, but I found myself having a hard time watching that. I think I would rather hang from a helicopter that to "free climb" I don't know at that height if it is for the money? I know work has to have some sort of motivator, but man I would need a lot of money to that. I am glad you can make more money with a pen!

Not for me, no way! My palms got sweaty and I felt woozy just watching that. I'm surprised they don't have a BASE jumping chute tied on, just in case.

Was that a Russian space satalite floating by? Part of me would like to try it just to be able to say I've climbed way up there. But my bad knee would prevent it. I used to climb to the top of the leg at the top of the huge grain elevators at the Port Of Indiana. They are not nearly as high as this, but they ware way up there, and the view was amazing. I could see a LONGGGG way along the Lake Michigan shoreline. When they stated talking about a storm with lightning comming along, thats when I started thinking, maybe not!

They say that once you get over about 30-40 feet, it doesn't really matter how high up you are....you're still dead when you hit the ground.
My brain knows that, but my body don't care....
